Microsoft Sync

We’ve all seen those Ford commercials showing us how advanced they have become. We have also all wondered what Bill Gates has been up to and why has he not defeated Steve Jobs’s MP3 success. Well we can’t say Bill didn’t try with the Zune; No one bought into it mind you and fewer know what a Zune is.

But what about the Sync?

Bill has always been a genius when it came to selling items that operate everything. Yes I’m talking about the Windows Operating system which took over the world. The Sync in principle is not much different. “Hey Steve, it controls your MP3 Player” and also controls Cd’s, and the radio all from voice commands.

The features and functionality of sync are also very nice. As I mentioned before it supports iPods, Zunes and a few other MP3 players. The voice commands work very well and the system has very little trouble understanding what you are saying. Upon pluging in an iPod the system says "please wait while your device is indexed" and shortly later (within 30 seconds) it prompts that it was done indexing and can now start playing and even take requests.

One major bugs/flaws that can be somewhat annoying is that once you plugin the iPod the screen is no longer useable (Poor Jobs). There is just a message that says “Accessory Connected”. This is a safety feature which in my area will eventually save allot of lives. I mean for fuck sakes, a woman was hit on my street just last week because of some cock sucker talking on his cell phone. I didn’t mention Sync is Blue Tooth Compatible did I! So your cell phone will connect and upon answering, Sync will lower the music volume and activate a Mic to allow you to freely talk.

Overall the Sync feature on Fords are much better than I originally imagined! If only I could get it on a real car! Not a huge fan of Ford!

* Traffic, Directions and Information Services: On May 27, 2009, it was announced that traffic, directions and other information Services would be made available on 2010 vehicles equipped with SYNC. These services are being offered free for 3 years to the original owner of the vehicle. They include

* Traffic Alerts

* Turn-By-Turn Directions

* Information Services (weather, sports, news and 411 business search)

* 911 Assist†: In the event of a serious accident with an air bag deployment, the 911 Assist feature will make a direct call to a local 911 emergency operator. Before initiating the emergency 911 call, SYNC will provide a 10-second window to allow the driver or passenger to decide whether to cancel the call. If not manually cancelled within the 10-second window, SYNC will place the emergency call. A pre-recorded message will play when the call is answered, and occupants in the vehicle will then be able to communicate directly with the 911 operator.

* Vehicle Health Reports†: After setting their personal preferences online, users can access free car reports at any time using SYNC. This feature will be released with SYNC version 2.0. All current SYNC owners will have access to upgrade to this version.

* Voice-activated, hands-free calling: Using the “Push to Talk” button on the steering wheel allows the user to access anyone on their mobile phone’s contact list by voice command.

* Uninterrupted connections: Pushing the “Telephone” button on the steering wheel will automatically transfer a current telephone call to the SYNC system without having to hang up and call again.

* Audible text messages: SYNC can convert text messages to audio and will read them out loud.

* Advanced calling features: SYNC displays the same features as the mobile phone used, such as caller ID, call waiting, conference calling, a caller log, a list of contacts, a signal strength icon, and a phone battery charge icon.

* Voice-activated music: SYNC allows you to browse through music collections by genre, album, artist, and song title using simple voice commands.

* Instant voice recognition: Allows users to avoid any complicated programming or reading aloud of prewritten scripts for SYNC to recognize their voice.

* Ring tone support: SYNC will play personal ring tones assigned to identify specific callers.

* Automatic phonebook transfer: SYNC will wirelessly transfer the names and numbers in a mobile phonebook automatically.

* Multilingual intelligence: SYNC is fluent in English, Canadian French, and Mexican Spanish.

Hack your LG ENV/2 LX9100 Keybo cell phone. Step by Step.

Have you ever wanted to add free Ringtones to your LG ENV (Keybo) but just couldn’t
find enough information to do it? I’ve read hundreds of pages on the topic and kept
on getting the same old answer “It’s not possible”.

It’s very possible, and it’s not very hard, once you know how. But before I start, I
need you to realize the following:

I am not responsible, nor is this website for the outcome of data loss or damage to
the phone you are about to try this on, or the computer you’ve attempted this on.

LG can void your warranty as it states in the fine print and you can actually cause
damage to your phone without wanting to. Your provider can refuse to service you.

In other words, this document is strictly for information purposes.
Now, if you do try this on your phone, remember that I can’t help you fix any problems

and you probably will have a very hard time finding anyone who can. You’re on your own.

Now that said, here are my findings:

1. Download the LG ENV driver for the VX9100 (Always scan for viruses)
I found a couple infected drivers.

2. Unzip your drivers to say: C:\LGMODEM

3. Download Bitpim 1.0.6 (www.bitpim.org)

4. Install Bitpim

5. Plug your phone using the USB cable which should have been provided
with the phone. If not, you will need to purchase one.

Once plugged in, do not select anything. Leave the phone alone.

Windows at this point should be asking you to install a driver. Install the driver properly.

This is the driver from, step 1 and 2.

>> Although not required, unplug the USB cable and reboot your system.

Once the system is rebooted and you are back in your desktop, plug the phone back in (DO NOT SELECT ANYTHING, LEAVE THE PHONE ALONE).

At this point, if you are successful, nothing should happen. If it prompts you to install the driver again, you either did not install the driver properly, or the driver you downloaded for your phone is not the correct one. You will need to do Step 1 to 7 again.

1. Run BitPim

2. Click on the EDIT tab at the top and then SETTINGS

3. Click on PHONE WIZARD

4. Click on Verizon Wireless (Even if you are using Telus) and then LG and then LG- VX8800 (VENUS).

I did this by mistake, and it worked great for me. Now click on the NEXT button
Select the right comport, mine is on COM4, yours will most probably be another
one.

6. Click on the FINISH button (NOT DETECT PHONE) and after click on the OK button

7. Click on the VIEW tab at the top of the screen and then click once on the VIEW
FILESYSTEM.

A check will appear next to it.

---

RINGTONES:

On the left side of the screen you should see a new option called:
Filesystem with a little filing cabinet icon.

Click on it. The on the column next to it, you will see a blue folder with a little + symbol.

Click on the + and wait for about 1 minute.

Be patient, Information will populate. (Takes time)

Click on the + symbol in front of BREW, then the + symbol in front of shared and then click on RINGTONE.

Now in the larger area of the screen which will appear blank

(If you never downloaded any ringtones, if not you will see your downloaded ringtones)

Right click in the large area and then click on NEWFILE and select your ringtone. Once you’re done, right

click again and click on REBOOT Phone.

Your new ringtone should be on your phone now and ready for you to use.

WALLPAPER:

On the left side of the screen you should see a new option called: Filesystem with a little filing cabinet icon.

Click on it. The on the column next to it, you will see a blue folder with a little + symbol. Click on the + and wait for about 1 minute.

Information will pop up. (Takes time)

Click on the + symbol in front of FLASH, then the + symbol in front of UI and then click on WALLPAPER.

The Larger area of the phone will display 3 Flash Wallpaper files (SWF).

Do your self a huge favor and right click on each one of them and then click on SAVE. Once you have them saved to your computer, put them on a memory stick and store them somewhere safe.

These are your backups, you never know when you will need these.

Now you can upload your new Flash Wallpaper.

Remember, people can write terrible code embedded in Flash that can do all kinds of strange things to your phone.

If you’re like me, you will create your own Flash screens.

BE CAREFUL. Another thing to note, save your flash screens in Flash 6 using 320 x 240pixels screen size.

I’m going to remind everyone, that the steps above can cause serious damage to your phone.

Legend of the Green Dragon (Online Game)

Legend of the Green Dragon By Eric Stevens & JT Traub LoGD version 1.1.1 Dragonprime Edition MightyE tells you, "Legend of the Green Dragon is a remake of and homage to the classic BBS Door game, Legend of the Red Dragon (aka LoRD) by Seth Able Robinson."

This is a great, yet very addictive text based game. Not much to it, but will bring you back to play more. I've been playing for 6 months on a regular basis and decided to install the game on my server and share it with the rest of the world. Hopefully I can convince you to play it too.

Long time no write?

Life morphs in so many ways every second of the day. I'm not superstitious and I don't believe in Opera's "Secret". But I do believe that every decision you take during the day, week, month and year change your life outcome for the better or the worst. (Then again Better/Worse is very debatable).

For example, your sitting behind your desk, the phone rings and you decide not to pick it up. You rely on that trusty voicemail and wait a few minutes. No flashing light? Was it a friend, a sale, a relative or a fucken telemarketer?

You'll never know now will you? Should have picked up that phone, should have moved across the country and start that new job, geeeez I should have been a porn star now I'm old and useless.

Look on the bright side, all the decisions you've taken so far brought you here no? Reading this post means you can read, use a computer, use the internet, use google or your favorite search engine. DO YOU GET IT NOW? Good because I don't.

Where am I going with this? Help!!!

Cheers,

Eric

Data Entry / Work from home

Don't forget to drop by my website:
http://www.scodenet.com and drop me a line or two.

Data entry work from home has become a concept that is so common that people often tend to think that it is a fairly simple kind of job and hence anyone can do it. Yes, it is true that most people with the basic educational qualifications can perform a data entry task; however it is always a good idea to know what these basic qualifications are exactly. Reading through this article will shed some light on the topic. In the event that you find yourself lacking in the area of any of the mentioned qualification, you can concentrate on developing them and be better equipped to apply for data entry jobs.

Knowledge of word processors

Word processing is a very important part of data entry work from home and you will find that most projects involve this. This qualification is perhaps the most important one that you need to have. If you want to make a success out of data entry, then you need to make sure that you are comfortable with at least one or two word processing software packages. The more versatility that you have here, the more project you will be able to bid or apply for. You must remember that all projects or companies might not want their work done on just one software package.

Basic education

Having a basic high school education is always a great advantage when applying for data entry work from home. In fact you will find that most job postings ask for applicants/bidders who meet this minimum qualification. The logic behind this is fairly simple. You will find that all high school courses integrate the use of computers in their curriculum. This makes students familiar with the basic uses of a computer and enhances keyboard skills like being able to type a certain number of words per minute. This helps in developing speed which is vital to most data entry jobs. A lot of schools also teach students how to use a fax machine etc. This is another very useful skill that one should have.

Basic writing skills

Now that we have covered the basic computer and educational skills that one will require in order to do data entry work from home, there is yet another very basic requirement that needs to be met. An excellent command over the basics of the English language is very important. This would mean that you should be able to write English that is grammatically correct as far as spellings and sentence construction goes. Without this qualification you would find that your choice of projects is extremely limited.

Where do you get these qualifications?

If you find that you are lacking in any of the above mentioned qualifications, don’t fret. You can still make a career with data entry work from home. There are course available that can bring you up to the mark in any of the above mentioned qualifications. If you are not a high school graduate and are applying to become one, your course will probably caver all of the above.
